Update: Bishop Timothy Doherty of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana has been voted chairman-elect of the Committee on Protection of Children and Young People. Elections were held Tuesday, Nov. 15, during the fall meeting of the U.S. bishops' conference in Baltimore. Bishop Doherty is one of five chairmen-elect selected to serve on the committees of Canonical Affairs and Church Governance, Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, Evangelization and Catechesis, International Justice and Peace, and Protection of Children and Young People.
